The Easiest Kill
Ichor
CREDITS
The door opened slowly and she fell to her knees. The light behind her was intense, but not as taxing as the fight she had just experienced. She was no closer to reconnecting with her lost companion as well, and the combat she had been exposed to had taken a lot out of her. Vela was covered in green blood from the enemies she had been fighting throughout the Military Base on Ichor.
She was alone. She was tired and sore. The Jet Force was crumbling, and no matter how much damage she and her team had done to Mizar and his forces - there always seemed to be more. A constant supply of foes, an inexhaustible army.
She held onto her gun tightly...
It wasn't like she had changed her clothes recently either. Mathew's old body had been trampled down and diluted with sweat to the point where there was nothing left other than a slight discoloration on her sweat-soaked sock. His other body had been spread across the sand of Cerulean, his death lost on all.
She took a deep breath, filling her lungs with air. Fatigue had been setting in for a while now, but Vela had no choice but to continue fighting on - Fighting for a better future for herself and her people. Fighting an enemy whose target was Earth, who has captured the Tribals in mass. A tyrannical ruler who had his grip on this edge of the galaxy and has oppressed the masses. Survival was hard, it was taxing and she was in hostile territory.
The sound of a howl pierced the air. It was immediately recognizable. She looked up with a smile to see Lupus, just the sight of her canine companion was enough for her to move on.
"Hey, Lupus!" She said enthusiastically as he approached her. "Mizar knows we're gunning for him, so things got pretty heated back there."
Casually she stood up, her sore body aching from all the stress she had been forcing it to endure. What remained of Mathew's body spread out beneath her weight, carried away by the sweat beneath her socks. She and Lupus didn't have far to go for cover - A few containers filled with hazardous material had been moved nearby on track-transport pads, giving them a decent place to stay hidden from sight. Beyond where they were was an enormous ship in dock - The Spawnship... A vessel designed to replenish ground forces in the fray. Spawnships were vital to any invasion force set onto the galaxy by Mizar, and boarding the ship had been her goal.
"The Spawnship..." She said with a sigh, keeping crouched and out of sight. "Look at that security.... There's no way we'll both make it on board."
Just as she finished sapeaking, the fueling lines came off of the Spawnship and fell to the ground with a hiss.
"What the...." She stammered. The blue fire of the engines beneath the ship flared up for takeoff. "Lupus! It's leaving! No time to argue boy, You're faster. Go! Head for one of those cargo ramps. Don't worry, i'll cover you! Hurry!"
Lupus broke into a sprint toward the cargo ramps, as fast as the dog could run. The moment he left, Vela brought her machine gun up to bear and held down the trigger. She fired over the smaller dog to the enemy forces beyond, first striking the guard to the right of the ramp. It squeaked in pain as a bolt hit its chest, causing it to lift from the ground and fold in on itself. The guard on the left was hit as Lupas made it to the ramp, it fell to its knees with a squeal of pain. The ramp came up, closing to the point where a normal dog would not have been able to make the jump. Vela watched on, continuing to fire at any enemy that made an attempt to shoot her companion. The rocket boosters on Lupus' paws flared up as he jumped, giving him the perfect boost to clear the closing door. The moment it was sealed, Vela watched as the Spawnship took off to the stars. The twelve take-off engines nearly shook the entire base with their power. It got to the point where it was clear of the base before the take-off engines cut off, being replaced with the single forward propulsion engine on the back of the ship.
Most of the enemies that were defending the Spawnship had already boarded. The base seemed abandoned now since Vela's rampage had diminished the military forces significantly. Wearily, Vela made her way along the path. A command tower stood overhead, and to the right was a path marked by several archways leading directly to a pad. Casually, she brought her free hand forward and opened it up so that her palm was facing forward. A holographic computer interface showed up - connected to her thought patterns. It had a display of her health and the health of her team - Juno and Lupus - Both were green. It was a relief...
She hacked the network in passing, taking control of the small-ship transfer pads. Her ship had a trojan program that made it show to all landing pads as a friendly vessel, one she was able to relocate here. It only took a few seconds to get the program to transfer her ship to the nearest pad. It worked, her blue vessel appeared off in the distance down past the archways...
Just to be sure though, she turned to look back the way she came. Not a soul in sight... Vela let out a gentle sigh, letting her head hang down - her gaze taking down to the floor. She might not have seen him if she wasn't paying attention... His blue hair let him blend in well to the floor before her.
Mathew gazed up to the giant woman, quaking in pleasure as his fate was put into her hands. Her eyes, for the first time, were directly upon him... Did she know he was a human? Could she see his body for what it was? She smiled, nearly laughing to herself as she saw him on the floor. The spawnship had just left, and while she didn't know everything about all of Mizar's army, the idea that a 'Grub' or another form of larvae enemy could be left on the ground here - of all places - was amusing to her. Her ship was behind her, ready for takeoff - She needed something to relax.
"Hah..." She said to herself as she lifted her right foot up from the ground, the shadow eclipsing Mathew's insignificant body. He could see green blood splattered up near the toe of her shoe. "Easiest kill today..."
Mathew huffed out, a tingle of pleasure resonating through his body from head to toe. He was unable to move, his body purposefully filling him with so much crippling ecstasy that he was immobilized. Vela watched as Mathew disappeared, feeling his body beneath her shoe as the sole of her boot pressed down on him. She lifted her heel, feeling how he resisted before the eventual - inevitable 'pop'. Mathew could feel the mounting pressure as his face was forced to the side, his skull deforming as his eyes bulged from their sockets. He couldn't breathe, before his form catastrophically failed. She felt as her foot sharply descended with his body popping, like stepping on the husk of a peanut.
Like a cigarette, she mercilessly began to twist Mathew's body into dust beneath her. She didn't bother checking his remains, she simply turned back toward her ship... Mathew's body did not join her, however. He was left in her wake, the mash of bones and flesh that once harbored life was left on the floor of the Ichor Military Base...
